The Bluebell Walk of Hope in support of The Leprosy Mission
On Saturday 28th April three members of our Church took part in the Bluebell Walk of Hope to raise money for the Leprosy Mission.
This is what their description of the day:
"Although the skies were heavy the atmosphere of the walkers was light. We three Blaby Congregationalists encountered friendly people who were also involved with the walk. Alistair (Oakham Methodist Church Minister) was like a good shepherd ensuring the safety of his flock whilst having time to chat with us. Owing to the dismal weather during April we wondered if the Bluebells would be in bloom - we were not disappointed! Turning a corner, we walkers were rewarded with the sight of a Carpet of Bluebells."
"The rain was getting heavier but Blaby Congregationalists being made of sturdy stuff, strode valiantly on. The bleak weather didn't appear to deter activity on Rutland Water - we saw an abundance of fishermen and the sailing boats in the distance."
"After the final ascent into Hambleton village we relieved ourselves from soaked coats, sat in Julie's car and enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch!! Although soaked through we had a great time and would like to thank all who so generously sponsored us."
Thank You to Julie M, Hollie and Val for participating in this walk on behalf of the Church.
