Pentecost Sunday, New Members & Celebration lunch

On 5th June it is Pentecost Sunday, the day we remember God's Holy Spirit being sent down to Earth to fill the Apostles so that they could go out into the World and continue the work of Jesus by telling all people about God.

At our service on Pentecost Sunday we will welcome into membership Alan and Mary, they have worshipped with us for several years and it is always lovely to see their cheerful smiles.

Alan and Mary have selected the hymns for this special Pentecost service, Holy Communion will also be served.

This is such an important service in so many ways, we will remember all those who have served God since the first Pentecost and especially those of our own congregation in the past decades (almost 100 years) who have grown and sustained our Church and worked in our local community.

May God bless Mary and Alan as we welcome them, and also bless us as we recall our own duties as members of this church.

We are also holding a celebration lunch on 5th June, we have three things to celebrate on this day!

On this day we celebrate Alan and Mary becoming members of our church, The church celebrates its birthday as this day is Pentecost Sunday and over this weekend we celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Wow so much to thank God for!

We agreed at our May Church Meeting to hold a faith lunch (after church) so we are asking you to bring your sandwiches, the Church will provide nibbles and cakes and drinks.

It is hoped to hold the lunch on the long tables outside the church and we will decorate the railings in red, white and blue, however, if the weather isn't kind we will set up the tables in the Church.

Let’s celebrate together and give thanks.

Val's Jubilee cake

What a delightful day 5th June was as we welcomed into membership Alan and Mary, the church was full as we talked about commitment and ended with communion. Then as it was Pentecost and the Jubilee, we enjoyed a lunch fit for royalty, although we bought our own sandwiches, there were other goodies on offer along with desserts of all varieties.

The highlight among many was when the Union Jack cake was cut by Mary and Alan. Thanks go to Val, Jan, Mary and Julie N for the food and organisation.
