Sunday 4th July - Alive in Jesus

Todays worship was led by Nigel Malka, we were pleased to welcome him back to Blaby this morning. Nigel based his sermon on extracts from Ezekiel 18 about turning away from wrongdoing, blieving in God and being Alive in Jesus.

We did not receive a copy of Nigel's talk but the hymns and reading are reproduced below for you to enjoy.

Introduction to talk

Reading :

Extracts from Ezekiel 18 written at the time the Jews were in exile in Babylon

The word of the Lord came to me, why do you quote this proverb

‘The fathers eat sour grapes and the children’s teeth are set on edge’

Do not quote this, as it is I who will judge every living soul

And those who sin, will die

A righteous man who follows my ways, faithfully keeping my laws will surely live

If that man had a violent son who sheds blood or does not keep my ways

Then that man will not live, because of all the detestable things he does

And his blood will be on his own head.

For it is the soul who sins who will die

But if the wicked man turns away from all the sin he committed

Keeping my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live

Because he will be forgiven.

I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked

I would rather they turn from their ways and live.

Should a righteous man turn from his righteousness and commits sin

Then because of his unfaithfulness he is guilty and will die.

Yet you say, ‘the way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is your way that is unjust

And therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you each one according to his ways

Turn away from all your offences then sin will not be your downfall, Repent and live!
